the weather up here was founded in 2008 by Adrienne Heath Stiefel. She lives with her artist husband and their almost-four-year-old in Louisville, KY. A New York City native, she fell under the spell of the plentiful agricultural resources of the Ohio Valley region and turned her conceptual focus to the tactile bounty of natural fibers.
Wool, alpaca, angora, corn and soy silk, cotton and wood captivate her, as do any objects worked by hand. Over the last several years she has sought to replace mass produced goods with the handmade in her every day living. the weather up here is her way of sharing her discoveries with you.
In addition to cultivating works for the weather up here, Adrienne also teaches 3D design and art history at the University of Louisville and Indiana University Southeast. She received her MFA from Rutgers University in 2006.
